Arsenal are 'in a very good position' in the title race says Petr Cech

Petr Cech refused to be downbeat in his assessment of Arsenal’s draw with Tottenham and maintained that his side have the consistency to compete in the title race.

A 1-1 draw at home to their North London rivals saw Arsenal slip to fourth in the Premier League table, despite an unbeaten run dating back to the second week of the season. Liverpool, the last team to beat Arsene Wenger’s side, now sit two points clear of the Gunners.

But the title race is likely to be a hotly contested one, with five teams within five points of the top with the first third of the season nearly at the end.

Cech believes that if Arsenal can overcome the disappointment of being pegged back by their rivals, for whom Harry Kane’s penalty cancelled out Kevin Wimmer’s first half own goal, they will be in the mix.

“If you keep your consistency then you have chance to do it,” Cech told reporters. “We are in a very good position with a lot of games to be played.

“Obviously you need to make sure you compete for every game. If we keep our run going then we will be near the top and will have a chance.”
