Graeme Souness has hailed the versatility of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

The France international has scored in the north London side’s last two Premier League games after being restored to Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up.

Giroud’s late header sealed a dramatic 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Boxing Day before the 30-year-old scored an incredible scorpion goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day.

The Arsenal striker has fallen down the pecking order this season but Giroud has still managed to score five times in two starts and 10 substitute appearances.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Giroud’s incredible finish against Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening, Souness claimed that the Arsenal striker would be an asset to most Premier League clubs.

“What Premier League team wouldn’t want him? Everyone would want him because you can’t just be a one-trick pony,” Souness said.

“You’ve got to have another way of playing if the games are tight. In his defence, I don’t think Arsenal utilise Olivier Giroud in the best way. If they get the ball wide and into the box, he will attack things. His strength isn’t his quick movement or passing.”

Arsenal have won their last two Premier League games against West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace after losing to Everton and Manchester United in their most-recent top flight fixtures on the road.
