Martin Keown discusses Arsenal's hopes of achieving Champions League glory

Martin Keown believes that Arsenal will need to get “lucky” in the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League.

The north London side are facing the prospect of finishing second in their group after they were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by PSG at The Emirates last week.

Arsene Wenger’s side have an unfortunate record of having been knocked out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage for the last six years running.

And Keown believes that the north London side need to find their ideal style in Europe following their draw against PSG last week.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Keown said: “They will need to get lucky in the draw.

“Arsenal have beaten good teams in the last few years such as Bayern Munich and they are a team that nobody will want to play.

“If they finish second, they will be a quite-fancied second-placed team. But Arsene Wenger needs to establish the right style for Arsenal in the Champions League.”

Arsenal have never won the Champions League and came closest back in 2006 when they were beaten in the final by Barcelona in Paris.

The Gunners will now turn their attentions towards their League Cup quarter-final clash against Southampton at The Emirates on Wednesday
