Arsenal offer Alexis Sanchez £9.3 Million per year deal but he wants more

The long running contract extension negotiations between Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez look set to continue after the Chile international reportedly rejected the club’s latest offer.

Reported by the Daily Mail, the latest offer from the London club amounts to a staggering £9.3 million a year, or £180,000 per week. Such a deal would mean the Gunners have offered Sanchez a pay rise of some £50,000 per week.

Negotiations remain at an impasse however as the offer has reportedly been rejected by the 27-year-old,who is reportedly holding out for a £1 million a month deal. At almost £250,000 per week, this therefore means the current offer on the table is still £70,000 a week below the figure demanded by the club’s top scorer this term.

Arsenal are said to be desperate to keep the Chilean at the Emirates Stadium long term as the forward has reached new levels this season, scoring 14 times in 22 appearances while chipping in another eight assists along the way.

Demanding parity with the Premier League’s top earners, it is certainly hard to argue with Sanchez’s demands. As negotiations continue to drag on towards the end of the year, fans and Arsenal officials will only be growing more anxious the longer a deal takes to materialise, if at all.

With 18 months remaining on his current deal with the club, there is still plenty time to secure a deal with the Copa America winner. However, should a deal remain elusive by the summer, other clubs will then be able to begin courting the diminutive goal scorer about a potential move away from the London club.

Chelsea are already reportedly interested in Sanchez’s services and would certainly be in a position to offer the star the salary demands he is currently making of Arsenal. Should the Gunners fail to secure a deal with the striker, they could well see their star player make a move across town to their city and league rivals.

At this time Sanchez is reportedly waiting on the next offer from Arsenal. Having rejected £180,000 per week, any revised offer will most likely break the £200,000 barrier. The only question is, will that be enough to secure Sanchez’s future, long term?
